Ho ripreso un pensiero pubblicato 2 anni fa perchè lo ritengo valido ancor oggi:

Forse non sono ancora la persona che vorrei essere,

ma sicuramente Scientology mi ha reso una persona migliore di quella che ero.

Io credo di aver trovato il percorso verso la felicità.

Auguro di trovarlo anche a te.

Sto leggendo un libro molto interessante che consiglio a tutti quelli che credono di non capirne niente di economia e si chiedono perchè nonostante le tasse continuino ad aumentare, continui a crescere anche il debito pubblico e i servizi peggiorino.

How to use The Way to Happiness

Did you know that you already have your own code of what is “right” and what is “wrong”?

And did you know that your personal happiness depends on such a code?

Seeing the world through your code of conduct.

If you’re like many people your code of right and wrong may not be well defined and may also have many areas of uncertainty in it. Your code may even shift daily as you experience new ideas and events. Regardless of how well developed your personal code of right and wrong may be, the point is that you do already have a code of conduct, which is to say you do already have a moral code.

And you use this moral code all the time! You view your world through your moral code. You observe people and their behavior and form opinions based on your moral code. You observe the behavior of businesses and governments and you form opinions based on your moral code.

Moral codes oftentimes conflict with one another.

And of course other individuals also have their code of conduct, which is also their moral code. And it is also true that cultures, religions and many professions have their own code that is specific to their own members.

Unfortunately all these different moral codes oftentimes conflict with one another. These conflicts can cause minor or very serious upsets, problems and conflicts.

Most problems, upsets or conflicts you have in life are the result of violations, either real or imagined, of your code of conduct, i.e. your moral code. Violations occur when you violate your own code of conduct, which then causes a problem for you with you! And of course violations occur when someone else or some group violates your sense of right and wrong, i.e. your moral code.

Violations of your moral code cause you pain and unhappiness.

If someone close to you is behaving in a way to violate your moral code, then you will be unhappy. The closer someone is to you, the bigger the effect will be on you -- either happy or unhappy. A spouse whose partner violates his or her moral code can experience great pain. A mother whose child violates her moral code likewise experiences pain.

It is interesting to note that it is even possible that two drug addicts can be happy with one another -- because they both believe in the same behavior. But soon they must reach out to seek new business contacts or new friends outside their drug circle and they immediately then run into disagreement with their drugged moral behavior -- so, of course, they don't have successful relations or friendships outside of their drug circle and can therefore become isolated and unhappy.

The point here is that if you insist on behaving in a way that society considers immoral, you can only be happy as long as you restrict your associations only to others who behave the same way!

Codes of conduct oil the machinery of human relations.

Mankind has always relied upon codes of conduct to oil the machinery of human relations, to promote positive, constructive conduct and discourage destructive, harmful acts. Such codes can simply be agreed upon standards of conduct that people agree to abide by, i.e. moral codes – or these codes can become formal legal codes, i.e. written laws enforced by a government.

As more and more people adopt lower and lower moral standards it then forces desperate governments to enact more and more laws, create more jails and build larger and more high-tech police forces and armies in order to control the behavior of its citizens – or even the behavior of foreign governments. The strategy is to control behavior by monitoring activities and backing it up with the threat of punishment.

We now live in a world of war, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction where there will never be enough laws, police or military force to ensure peace and security. And the growing lack of honesty, the lack of respect and the lack of tolerance makes even everyday life more and more difficult.

What is the solution?

Many groups and professions have their own code of conduct that is specific for their own members, but we need more than that. In addition to these codes, what is desperately needed is:

A code of common sense principles that is modern, relevant, grounded in logic and is easily read and adopted as a code of conduct by anyone.
A code that effectively bridges cultural, language and religious barriers and successfully enables anyone or any group to conduct successful relationships or to successfully interact with anyone or any other group.
A code that can be used as a practical reference guide:
- To guide or repair ones own life
- For raising children to be honest, competent and productive
- To guide or repair a relationship
- And to even bring groups or cultures that are in conflict into peaceful accord.
